Balanced is what the diagnosis found. Quick uses the fastest model; Best uses the repair model and keeps every texture — about three times slower.
What we found
Crop and straighten before enlarging — a crop is four times cheaper than the same crop after. To enlarge only a face in a group photo, crop to it and press Enhance.
The green and magenta blotches a phone makes in the dark. Only the colour is smoothed, and only where the lightness is even — the detail is not touched.
Puts the black and white points back, per colour channel, so a print that has gone grey and yellow gets its contrast and its neutral tone back. Warmth, after enlarging, brings a sepia back on purpose.
Opens the low shadows and leaves true black and the bright parts alone; the colours keep their saturation. A night scene that is meant to be dark wants As shot.
Pulls forms apart from haze — a flat scan, a photo through glass. Lightness only, midtones only, so nothing clips and colour does not move.
Puts back skin, fabric and grain the model smooths away. Not sharpening — it only acts where detail was lost.
Video: a frame grabbed from a video, or a file blocked up by repeated compression (30 MB). Blur: motion or focus blur, NAFNet (138 MB). Both run before enlarging; on a file that does not need them they only remove detail.
Takes a colour cast off — the pink of stage lights, the orange of a lamp. Eased keeps the warmth of an evening; neutral takes it out.

On Auto, every file gets its own diagnosis, its own sharpen and grain, and the studio's Background setting; the after-controls (brightness, colour, warmth, saturation) are per picture and are not applied in a batch. With a saved recipe, every file gets that recipe.

How much of the result shows over a plain resize.
Paint over a blemish, a wire, a person in the background; Remove paints it out from what surrounds it (LaMa, 208 MB once). Invented, not recovered — and it says so in the file.
How much less sharpening and grain skin gets than hair and fabric. A soft skin mask, not a face detector.
Adds a little invented grain so skin reads as a surface instead of plastic. This is not recovered detail — it is texture the tool makes up, and on a small face it is the difference between a photograph and a mask.
Cuts the subject out after enlarging. Remove gives a transparent PNG; Colour fills behind the subject. A 4.6 MB model, once.
