Understanding Your License

What the license terms actually mean for you.

Billing & Access

Flexible access options

Choose what works for you: Annual bundles give you 1-year access (does not auto-renew, 50% renewal discount). Monthly subscriptions start at $29/month (cancel anytime). Individual packs give lifetime access to that pack. All plans include a commercial license.

Downloaded files are yours forever

When your access ends, everything you downloaded is yours to keep and use — in current and future projects. You only lose access to download new assets. Individual pack purchases grant lifetime access.

Royalty-free means pay once

No per-use fees. Whether your site gets 100 or 100,000 visitors, or your illustration appears in one presentation or a hundred — there are no additional charges.

Attribution & Upgrading

Free License requires a visible credit

Include a credit such as “Illustrations by GetIllustrations.com in your footer or credits page. Attribution is not required for Standard or Extended licenses.

When to upgrade to Standard

Upgrade when you need to remove attribution, use illustrations in client deliverables, incorporate them into products for sale, or access the full premium library with up to 5 team members.

When to choose Extended

The Extended License is for organizations that need to redistribute full packs or grant access to a large number of employees. If you just need individual illustrations in products for sale, Standard covers that.

License FAQ

Quick answers about what you can and cannot do.

Can I use illustrations in client projects? +
Yes, with a Standard or Extended License you can use illustrations in client projects without restriction. No extra license per delivery. The Free License requires attribution and is limited to personal use.
How does team access work? +
Standard License allows up to 5 team members. For larger teams, the Extended License covers unlimited employees — contact us at [email protected] for pricing.
What happens when my access period ends? +
Everything you downloaded is yours to keep forever. For annual bundles, you lose access to download new assets after 1 year but can renew at a 50% discount (does not auto-renew). For monthly subscriptions, access continues as long as your subscription is active. You can cancel anytime.
Can I use illustrations in products I sell? +
Yes! Standard License permits incorporating illustrations into products for sale — themes, templates, websites, and other products. You cannot resell standalone illustration files. Extended License allows redistribution of full packs.
Is attribution required? +
It depends on the license type. Our open-source icon packs (MIT License) require no attribution at all. The Free License for illustration packs requires attribution. Standard and Extended License holders are not required to credit GetIllustrations, though we always appreciate a mention.
What is the MIT License for free icon packs? +
Our free icon packs (Feather, Lucide, Phosphor, Tabler, Bootstrap, Material Symbols, and others) are distributed under the MIT License. This means you can use them freely in personal and commercial projects, modify them, redistribute them, and include them in products you sell. No attribution is required, no account is needed, and there are no usage limits. The MIT License is one of the most permissive open-source licenses available.
Can I use free MIT icons in commercial client projects? +
Yes, absolutely. MIT-licensed icons can be used in any commercial project without restriction. Use them in client websites, SaaS products, mobile apps, presentations, print materials, merchandise, and any other format. No attribution, no royalties, no limits on the number of projects or end users.
What is the difference between free icons and free illustrations? +
Our free icon packs are open-source (MIT License) with no attribution required, full commercial use, and no account needed. Our free illustration packs use a separate Free License that requires attribution and is limited to personal use. For commercial illustration work without attribution, a paid Standard or Extended License is needed. Browse free icon packs or browse free illustrations.
Can I redistribute free MIT icons in my own icon library or product? +
Yes. The MIT License permits redistribution. You can include these icons in themes, templates, UI kits, npm packages, and design systems. You can modify them and distribute the modified versions. The only requirement is to include the original MIT license text when redistributing the raw icon files.
What file formats are included? +
Paid licenses include SVG (vector, fully scalable), PNG (high-resolution up to 4000×4000 px), and AI/EPS source files. Free accounts only have access to preview-quality images.
Can I modify or change the colors of illustrations? +
Absolutely. All SVG files are fully editable. You can change colors, remove elements, combine illustrations, or modify them in any way using tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe Illustrator, or our free SVG Color Editor.
Is this a subscription? Does it auto-renew? +
We now offer both options. Annual bundles do not auto-renew — you get 1-year access and can optionally renew at 50% off. We also offer monthly subscriptions from $29/month that you can cancel anytime. Individual pack purchases give you lifetime access. Everything you download is yours forever.
Can I use illustrations on websites, apps, and SaaS products? +
Yes. The Standard License covers websites, web apps, mobile apps, SaaS products, landing pages, onboarding flows, empty states, dashboards — any digital product with no impression or user limits.
Can I use illustrations in videos and presentations? +
Yes. Standard and Extended licenses cover pitch decks, keynotes, YouTube videos, social media content, ads, and any other visual media. No per-use fees or view limits apply.
Can I sell themes or templates that include your illustrations? +
Yes. The Standard License allows you to incorporate illustrations into products for sale — WordPress themes, Figma UI kits, Notion templates, presentation decks, and similar products. What you cannot do is resell the raw illustration files as standalone assets.
What does “redistribute full packs” mean? +
The Extended License allows you to include entire illustration packs or collections as part of a larger product — for example, bundling a full illustration set into a design system or development kit that you distribute to customers. The Standard License only covers individual illustrations within a finished product.
How many projects can I use the illustrations in? +
Unlimited. There is no limit on the number of projects — personal or commercial — you can use your licensed illustrations in. Build as many websites, apps, and products as you like.
Can I re-download files after my access expires? +
No. Once your 1-year access period ends, you can no longer download from the library. However, everything you downloaded during your access period is yours to keep and use forever. Individual pack purchases grant lifetime download access to those specific packs.
Do you offer refunds? +
Yes. We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you’re not satisfied with your purchase, contact us at [email protected] for a full refund. See our Refund Policy for details.
What payment methods do you accept? +
We accept all major credit cards, PayPal, and other payment methods through our secure payment processor, Paddle. Paddle also handles VAT/sales tax automatically based on your location.
Can I transfer my license to someone else? +
Licenses are non-transferable and tied to the purchasing account. If you need illustrations for a colleague or client, they should purchase their own license, or you can use the Extended License for larger team access.
Where can I read the full license agreement? +
The complete legal text is available in the comparison table and rights section above. For additional questions, reach out to [email protected] or visit our Help Center.
