Human made illustrations,
in a world filling up with AI

Every original illustration in our library is drawn by a person — a real artist, with a name, a history and a point of view. As AI imagery floods every feed and slowly dilutes what original drawing looks like, we think that fact is worth more than it has ever been. This page is the case for it.

Why the human touch matters more now, not less

Something strange is happening to images. There have never been more of them, and they have never meant less. AI can now produce a passable illustration in seconds, so the internet is filling up with passable illustrations — millions of them, each one averaging out everything it was trained on, each one a little bit like all the others. The flood doesn't just compete with original drawing. It pollutes it: it drowns the real thing in imitations of itself until people forget what the real thing looked like.

A human made illustration is the opposite of that flood. It is a series of choices someone actually made — this line weight and not that one, this joke, this gesture, this exact slump of a shoulder when a payment fails. When a person drew it, somebody meant it. And audiences can feel the difference, even when they can't articulate it: work with intent behind it reads as finished, trustworthy, alive.

That is the bet this whole company is built on. Not that AI is useless — we use it, openly and labeled — but that as generated images become infinite, drawn ones become precious.

More than a decade of drawing things by hand

We didn't arrive at "human-made" as a marketing position. It is just how we have always worked.

2013

It started with icons

We launched Roundicons.com on a simple belief: designers deserve high-quality icon sets they can actually afford. It grew into one of the internet's most recognised icon libraries — 45,000+ icons across dozens of styles.

2020

GetIllustrations is born

A dedicated home for illustration packs in every major style — flat, outline, 3D, isometric, hand-drawn — built by the same team, on the same principle: made by people, priced fairly.

Today

A library with one voice

39,000+ illustrations across 440+ packs, used by 56,000+ designers, developers and marketing teams — with illustrators contributing from Bali to Cairo.

Always

Fair to creators

We are creators ourselves, so our marketplace, Vectopus, curates its designers carefully and pays them better percentages than the industry norm. Being fair to artists is not a feature; it is the point.

From Bali, by hand

Our creative director and co-founder, Krishnanda Adipurba, grew up in Bali in the '90s, when you could still see the rice paddies between the traditional buildings. Balinese culture surrounds you with intricate carvings, statues and temple architecture — and it got into his hands early. His first drawing, in first grade, was a Barong.

Art school added the other half: "Bali exposed me to detail. College exposed me to simplicity." Then came movies, music and grunge — the permission to be raw. That mix of discipline and looseness is the style DNA you can see across our library today: clean enough to sit in a product, human enough to feel drawn.

"AI can help us research faster. But the human touch — that cannot be replaced."

Krishnanda Adipurba, Creative Director & Co-founder

The people behind the pen

"Human made" is not an abstraction. These are the two people who started it — and the standard every illustrator who joins the library signs up to.

What "hand-made" actually means here

Not a vibe — a working method. Every pack in the library goes through the same unglamorous discipline.

Hours per piece, on purpose

Our artists refine each illustration by hand — adjusting stroke weights, balancing negative space, making sure every element communicates with clarity and a bit of personality. No prompt-generated fillers padding out a pack.

Built as a design system

Beautiful illustrations mean nothing if they don't work together. Every pack follows strict internal guidelines — stroke width, corner radius, colour palettes, a proportional grid — so different collections sit together seamlessly.

Original, not just trendy

We research what's current, then deliberately step sideways. As Krishna puts it: follow the trend completely and you disappear into it. Be yourself — but not so self-centred that nobody can use the work. The middle ground is where the library lives.

Finished, always

The studio rule is almost embarrassingly simple: finish your work. Artistic people love to stop when the mood dips. We don't. Keep creating, keep shipping — that is how a library reaches 39,000 drawings.

The proof is the library

The most-loved packs right now — every one of them drawn by a person. The special hand-drawn character, the roundness, the human feeling: that is the added value you are looking at.

And where AI fits — honestly

We are not purists shaking a fist at the future. AI helps us research faster and gather inspiration, and a small number of packs in the library are AI remixes of our own hand-drawn originals — new styles built from artwork we made ourselves, never from anyone else's.

The rules are strict and public: we only remix our own work, our library has never trained anyone's model, and everything AI touches is labeled "Remixed by AI" on its cover, page and lightbox. The originals stay hand-drawn, and new original packs keep shipping the way they always have.

If you want the full picture — including the honest downsides of AI remixing — we wrote it all down on the AI illustrations page.

Want this human touch on your own product?

The same illustrators who draw the library take commissions. They can expand a pack you already use into scenes we never drew, adapt a style to your brand, or build you a complete illustration design system — hand-made, with revisions and editable source files, at studio-direct pricing.

Questions

Are your illustrations really made by humans?

Yes. Every original illustration is hand-crafted by a professional illustrator — people who understand composition, colour theory and visual storytelling. The small number of AI-remixed packs are clearly labeled "Remixed by AI" and are derived from our own hand-drawn originals.

How can I tell human-made from AI-remixed work?

By the label. Hand-drawn is the default and carries no badge; anything AI touched wears a "Remixed by AI" mark on its cover, its page and its lightbox. If there is no label, a person drew it.

Has your artwork been used to train AI models?

No — never, by us or by anyone else. That is a deliberate choice, and it is also why our styles stay genuinely distinct in a market of look-alikes.

Why does human-made cost more than AI generation?

Because someone spent real hours on it — and that is exactly what you are buying: consistency across hundreds of scenes, meaning drawn in on purpose, and a style with clean provenance you can safely build a brand on. Considering a pack covers an entire product's needs, it is some of the cheapest professional artwork money can buy.

Can I hire your illustrators directly?

Yes — through our custom illustration service. Pack expansions, brand adaptations and full design systems, drawn by the library's own artists at studio-direct pricing.

Which styles are available hand-drawn?

All of them — flat, outline, 3D, isometric, hand-drawn, colorful and more, across 440+ packs. Start from styles or browse all packs.
